Hi Everyone,
I'm really looking forward to this week. I have been juicing for a while and never a cleanse in such a focused way.
I grocery shopped over the weekend and I LOVE the way my fridge looks right now!

Hi Mary!

I agree- a fridge full of produce always feels great. If you have any favourite recipes we'd love to hear them! Hope tomorrow goes well for you!

Admittedly my juicing recipes are a random... kind of whatever is in my fridge and I think might go well together. The only time it really went badly was when I used too many dandelion greens... I tried to make it better by adding apples but alas I threw it out.

I recently have been adding mint to grapefruit juice or pineapple juice.... yum!

Was looking for some support to get back to juicing, extremely excited when I say this IG account about juicing. I find that 1/2- 1hr by myself to be therapeutic, looking forward to doing so later tonight.Thank you again

That's a nice way to look at juicing, Halia! As therapeutic 'me' time. It really does say loud and clear that you're looking after yourself well when you're juicing.

I'm glad you stumbled upon me on Instagram. The time must have been right. :)

I finally logged-in.
I spent yesterday preparing for today and am about to juice for breakfast here.
I'll keep you posted on how it all goes. Though I can tell you, I'm being haunted by ghosts' from my distant past. I'm craving the chicken my mother used to make when I was a child.

Great to have you here Carole!

And you know those cravings will be gone in a couple days and you'll be feeling awesome. ;)

Happy Juicing!

I have a headache! It might be a lack of sleep headache. Otherwise feeling good, not hungry... enjoying a glass of grapefruit, apple and mint :)

Hi Mary,

Unfortunately a headache is very normal if you're a tea/coffee drinker. Are you? Either way it's sure to pass soon. :)

Grapefruit, apple and mint sounds wonderful. I haven't experimented with mint but I'll definitely have to!

I usually have one cup of coffee in the morning and generally that's it. If it is the caffeine withdrawal that is the cause then I appreciate (and not necessarily in a good way) the power of that drug even more.

.... truth be told I'm probably being a little dramatic :) Going to bed early tonight to build up my stores a bit more.

Yes! Mint! LOVE IT!

Very happy to be along for the ride !

This is my first time juicing ever! I am happy to report that my new juicer works great and I have not had a bad juice yet! I once bought a bottled pure green juice from a cafe and was totally grossed out by it so I had my reservations as to how these green juices that I would make today would taste. I must say, they are delicious so far! I have not felt major hunger at all but it is only 1pm and I have had 3.5 juices today so far. The orange juice one was delicious for breakfast and I added celery as I did not have enough cucumber - really nice juice! And I have now tried 2 of the 3 that Andrea recommended as the ones she sells. I am hoping that my mild headache doesn't get worse as I have my 4 kids to make dinner for and help with homework this afternoon! I'll need all the energy I can muster! So far so good, and excited to see this through to the 'other side'. Thanks Andrea for the support and recipe suggestions. A great place to start.

Hi Tisha!

I'm so glad you came on board for this cleanse. Sounds like you've got the juice-making down! I'm happy to hear that you had success with trying my juice recipes. Fresh fresh juices are definitely one of life's pleasures. :)

I hope your afternoon goes well and your headache goes away soon! Though sometimes things do get worse before they get better... but juice through all the bumps and you're sure to get to the other sides feeling twice as good as you do now. I'm looking forward to hearing how you feel on Friday morning. My prediction is- great!

Happy juicing!

just finished up juicing for the day...the first one this morning just felt so right..I always love beets, carrots, apples, ginger and today lime as well, and kale. Lunch juice was bad...had grapefruit and celery plus other vegetables, but I drank it up, and dinner was broccoli, kale, celery, lime, beet, carrots...yum. I love the feeling light but full, as I have a ton of herbal tea during the day. Thanks, Drea.

Glad you're feeling so great already Barb! When we talked you mentioned you were going to try to use fewer ingredients, but I see you're still trying to fit them all in there. ;) Whatever works for you!

And about the servings, have you increased them to 5-6? I do recommend 5 or 6 16oz services per day to get the required calories and nutrients you need. Remember, plants heal and cleanse so the more you drink, the better!

Hope you feel great again tomorrow!

Made it through day one with success and ease. I had a very mild headache that I think is more due to being tired than juicing or lack of caffeine. I still have a slight headache this morning but nothing that stops me. I found that I was hungry at 9pm but was certainly in no place to make another juice. Oh well...slept through it and awoke not feeling hungry which allowed me to do my morning exercises before breakfast as I usually do. I made juices throughout the day yesterday for every meal and snack but that was difficult with kids running about and the mess to clean up. Today I have made a few juices to last me most of the day so I think I'll find it easier this way. Looking so forward to Friday and a clearer head and body! YAY!

Definitely good to plan ahead with the juicing. It makes it a lot easier and also exciting knowing that your juices are sitting there waiting for you! Hope day 2 was as successful and easy as day 1!

I'm back in the land of the living but think that I might be coming down with a bit of a cold. I had thought it might be headaches from cleansing but now doubtt that. Do you think that the juicing might help give it the boot?

Hi Carole,

I think juice will definitely help with a cold! Often our natural response for healing is to stop eating. If you think of many sicknesses, our appetite often disappears and our body rejects food. Fasting is a natural way of healing. I'd say pump up the green juices with lemon and ginger and support your body through this cold with juices.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Perhaps a day off work today after your big event? :)

Take care!

I'm feeling so much better already. Don't know what it was but grateful for it.
This has definitely been the hardest cleanse that I've done and a challenge every step of the way.
Thanks again for your support Andrea

I woke up with a headache today, none yesterday, not sure why maybe because i went to bed a little hungry, and i also went to be late for the last three nights, so i think i can attribute that to lack of sleep. I had an once of aloe juice and it went away in about half hour. i still have lots of energy so my body is still adjusting i think?

Hi Halia,

Glad your headache went away. Sleep it really helpful for your body to cleanse during a time like this. Hopefully tonight you can get to bed early. It could also be that your body is just starting to do some detoxing now in which case if you have the patience or energy you could do one more day of juicing to support that detoxing and pick up with eating on Saturday. That would be your choice to do what feels best for you.

Hope you have a good day!

Day 3 is great! I went to bed in a fog the night of day 2 and wasn't sure I would have it in me to continue with day 3, but I woke up bright eyed and clear headed and felt wonderful! Must be this cleanse! I also don't feel much hunger even though I have had less juice so far today than the other 2 days. I have lost 5lbs (I am doing this as a weight loss kick off as well as cleanse), and feel lighter and fresher. Feels so good knowing that everything that has entered my body over the last week has been whole foods. I may even continue another day of juicing on Friday and then look forward to vegan meals to come. Thanks Andrea for your support and daily updates and advice.
On another note, what do people do with all of their pulp? I have a very basic mid-range juice, the Waring Pro and I find cucumber and apple peels intact in the pulp catcher. Is this normal? What juicers do others have?
And one more thing, my teeth feel so weird...my molars particularly. I brush and brush but still feel almost like a film over my back teeth. It is from juices but I wonder what fruit or veggie is causing this?

Tisha, I am feeling pretty much the same as you... clearer headed, bright eye and filmy molars! I noticed it last night, brushed and don't seem to have it today.... who knows!

Hi Tisha,

Detoxing comes in many forms, and much of it can appear in the mouth. Filmy teeth is a sign of detox reported by some people- many of you are experiencing it! That as well as a white tongue are common mouth detox symptoms. One piece of advice I just read was to rinse your mouth out with salt water after every juice. Sounds like a plan for next time! Thanks for sharing that with us!

As for pulp, it's different from each juicer. My centrifuge juicer leaves a lot of little ends, and skins, but my masticating juicer really gets all the pulp chewed and it's much dryer. I've heard of people using it to create veggie stocks, dehydrated crackers and breads, in nut loafts and carrot loafs and such. I usually just compost mine as it's a combination of all kinds of fruit/veggies.

Congrats on finishing your cleanse and re-setting your mind and body!

:)

Congratulations every one!, we did it, I am continuing one more day of cleansing and toawards the end of the day I will introduce some fruit. I can relate to Tisha in regards to the film, i brushed twice last night and it seems it went away, try brushing twice hope that helps. Very happy to announce i lost 6lbs and i feel cleaner and lighter. I no longer have any headaches and my cravings have reduced to 0%. I am stronger than i thoughty. I plan to juice daily from now on and cleanse one or two days a week to keep up with my life plan to stay healthy and look great. Andrea thank you again for an amazing week and it was just what the DR. ordered:)

Thank you Andrea for all of the support through this week of cleansing. I wanted to report that my clear mind feels so fantastic! I usually am very sluggish in the afternoons and saw my energy stay high all day on Thursday and am still feeling it into today. This cleanse not only showed me that juicing can make one feel on top of the world, but the importance of smaller and more frequent meals. I plan to add morning and afternoon snacks to keep my energy level throughout the day and I look forward to eating whole foods that can heal my body. You may see me back here next month too! I am also happy to see the scale down by 7lbs and hope to continue down with healthy eating thanks to the jump start of a juice fast.
Oh, I also wanted to report that I found Wednesday (day 2) to be the tough day. I have been vegan for a year now and was finding myself having many thoughts of cheese and dairy and felt like stopping the cleanse. Interesting how cleanses work and how Thursday morning (day 3) was such a new light! All cravings and food issues went away and I sailed through the day with such ease. Loved it! There really is a light at the end of a tunnel with cleansing!

Tisha, interesting about those cravings and now everything being gone. Did you know some cultures don't even have a word for 'cravings'? Their diets are so whole foods based that there's nothing else they crave! Our bodies crave what's inside them already, and unfortunately it's often the nutritionally lacking foods. So keep up what you've started on this cleanse and pretty soon you'll be one of those people who continuously craves nutrient dense foods, and juices for snacks! ;)

And 7lbs. That's a kick-start for you! You must feel great. :)

Hi Andrea
I clearly did something very wrong today. I have had a very angry stomach this evening. Oh dear. I will have to learn for the next time that I try a cleanse.

Oh no Carole!

Out of curiosity was there anything you would pin it on- food wise? Other than food, our digestion is affected by so many things- stress, emotions, sickness, cleanses, etc. Try to think about what you ate and see if there are any more sensitivities next time you eat those foods. They could be slightly aggravating for you in general, or perhaps is was just too much too soon? I'd be curious to hear more about what you think may be the cause in order to learn for juice cleansers in the future. Nothing like personal experience to gain more insight!

I do hope you got something out of this cleanse this time around. It sounds like it was a busy time for you with your event and getting sick. Be gentle to yourself this weekend and take care! :)

Hi Andrea
I mashed some cannellini beans with lemon zest and had some soft avocado with tomato. Over the years I'e struggled with legumes but have been able to eat cannellini beans before without any problem so am a little confused. It's the first time that I've had such an angry stomach after cleansing. Like you said, maybe it's because of everything else that's been going on.
Now I'm feeling like I could have gone an extra day. That said, it has been the hardest cleanse I've done so far. Maybe I should give it ago again next month and see what happens.

Hi Drea..
this time by day three I was tired of actually making the juices, and thinking how great it would be to just buy them, grab them as needed...all fresh, organic, made by an individual, not a factory. I went on a hike on Wed. and thought I'd get my luncheon juice at Pete's, as at his Wolfville location you can get freshly made juice. Alas, in Bedford he only had the salad bar, but another stall had juices,,,but the only ones that were from fresh juicing were all carrot or all orange, you couldn't mix it. I did the orange as I've had so much carrot..but that juice was so uninteresting after my own mixtures, though I can make bad ones too. I think the juices need a green food element in them! they just make you want to make it as healthy as possible. Thanks
